March Work In the Classrooms (and out of them)

Our class enjoys so many different activities! We love to learn and create. Here are our adventures for March.
Knitting a beautiful scarf.

This is the beginning of the river model lesson. We learn about ecology, parts of a river, how the river carves/carries/deposits, and deltas. This is one of the students' favorite lessons every year!

Observing the lake that was formed on the top of the mountain.

Observing the waterfall from the lake and the meandering river.

Observing what happens when trash is thrown in a river and travels to the delta.

Excitement over the natural bridge and gorge that formed.

The students wanted to help it "rain"on the mountain.

We learned about the lower paleolithic timeline of humans. The students enjoyed making cave paintings and tools from that time period.

Some students chose to see what drawing on a cave ceiling must have been like by taping their work under tables.

Making tools and weapons with only rocks, hands, and rope can prove to be difficult.

Work with the story of our language and the story of mathematics.

Some biology work.

Our spring fair project was designed by two seniors. They quickly went to work on the woodworking aspect of it.

We held a debate on who was at fault for the potato famine in Ireland in 1846. The students above represented the Anglican Church.

We represented the Irish Tenant Farmers in the debate.

These students represented the Colonial Capitalist Economy.

These students and Miss Mary represented the English Landlords in the debate.

These students represented the English Government in the debate.

We celebrated International Month by having presentations from different countries. This presentation represented Belize. The fry jacks were delicious! Thank you Shau Ann!

This International presentation was from Puerto Rico. The rice was delicious and the presentation was fun! Thank you Miss Lourdes!

A science experiment on solids and liquids. Learning can get messy!

Learning musical notes on the tonebars.

Creative writing.

Pythagorean Theorem

Learning multiplication and finding the squares of numbers.

Practicing for our production of "The Wizard of Oz."

We love handwork when we don't have lines to rehearse!

Volume of rectangular prisms work.

The B.C.E./C.E. timeline lesson inspired students to make history cards of significant happenings to place on the timeline chronologically.

Liquids to gas experiment.

These students figured out how to make the sensorial version of the trinomial cube.

On our way to the Hilton Village Theatre for the production of "Peter Pan Ballet" in which two of our students performed.
